iShares IV-Electr.Veh.+Dr.TechR (IEVD.DE) stock analysis, October 31, 2026: Weekly downtrend takes over after 200-day average fails

Published October 31, 2026 · IEVD.DE chart, levels and live analysis

iShares IV-Electr.Veh.+Dr.TechR (IEVD.DE) closed at 10.226 EUR on October 30, 2026. That was down 4.0% on the day and below its 200-day average of 10.37 EUR, which turns the weekly trend down. The balance of evidence now leans negative for the next 2 to 6 weeks, with medium conviction, a change from the neutral reading of October 28. A daily close under 10.0 EUR would open the way toward the 52-week low at 7.46 EUR.

Why it matters

The week delivered a run of earnings from the names that define this theme, and the results were mixed. Bloomberg reported that BYD's third-quarter profit missed estimates even though net income rose 28% to 10 billion yuan, and it argued the export-led recovery is losing steam. Against that, CNBC showed Rivian beating on both loss per share (48 cents against 62 expected) and revenue ($2.16 billion against $1.99 billion). Morningstar noted Ford's adjusted EPS of $0.49 beat the $0.41 consensus. The Toyota and Waymo plan to test autonomous bZ4X vehicles in Japan from 2027, covered by The Verge, is too far out to move a basket this month.

The reaction is the more telling part. The fund fell 4.0% on Friday while the S&P 500 (SPY) fell 1.77%, and it now sits 12% below its October 5 close of 11.62 EUR. Over one month it has lost 7.2%, against a 0.9% decline for SPY. The beats from Rivian and Ford did not stop the slide. The news does not explain a drop of that size in one session, and volume was 32.5% below its 20-day average, so the fall did not come on heavy turnover. No fund flow data appears in the news, so whether money left the fund cannot be said.

On the five-day numbers the fund is up 0.2% against a 0.56% loss for SPY, so the week as a whole was not weak. The damage is concentrated in Friday and in the longer lag: over 50 days the fund trails SPY by 5.9%. Year to date the fund is up 26.8% against 10.8% for SPY, so the theme has still outrun the market this year. No sector benchmark is available here, which means the market's share of the move can be measured but the theme's cannot be separated from the fund's own holdings.

The argument about the theme is about quality of growth. The skeptical side is Reuters Breakingviews, which says Geely's overhaul is going nowhere fast even after a 28% rise in quarterly profit to 4.8 billion yuan and gross margin above 18%. The supportive side is analysts buying weakness in individual names. CNBC reported Jefferies upgrading Rivian to buy with a $17 price target, 48% above Thursday's close, after a 32% three-month decline. Morningstar lifted its Tesla fair value to $475 from $450 on higher assumptions for full self-driving adoption. The fund has no analyst consensus or price target of its own. Those figures belong to single holdings, and they show analysts getting more constructive on the largest names while the basket's price keeps falling. Policy adds a second worry: Bloomberg described uncertainty for Hungary's battery industry after the change of government, even as a Reuters report said a court dismissed the challenge to CATL's Debrecen plant.

What the evidence says

On the long term, the thesis has weakened and is now in a corrective phase. The October 28 report was neutral with low conviction, with the price above its 40-week average and a weekly close below 10.34 EUR (the 200-day average) set as the level that would change that. Friday's weekly close of 10.226 EUR is below it. The price is also below its 10-week and 40-week averages, 21.56% under the 52-week high of 13.04 EUR, and 37.0% above the low of 7.46 EUR. The six-month change is -1.6%, so most of this year's gain was made before the recent leg down. The earlier reading did not fail on a headline. It failed on price.

For the next 2 to 6 weeks the balance of evidence leans negative, with medium conviction, 2 of 4 points. Two things support it: the daily trend runs with the weekly downtrend, and the fund lags SPY by 5.9% over 50 days. The price is also below the 50-day average at 10.82 EUR, which now sits above the market as resistance.

The strongest case against is that the fund is oversold. RSI is 29.41, and the five-day gain beats the market's loss. History does not turn that into an edge, though. Across 303 earlier cases of RSI dropping below 30, the shares were higher a month later 61.4% of the time, against 61.8% typically, with a median one-month move of 2.23%. An oversold bounce is normal, but it has not improved the odds. That is why conviction stops at medium: the trend evidence is aligned, but only half the checks line up.

Levels that matter

The structure sits below 10.37 EUR, the 200-day average, where sellers have shown up on rallies. The trend would end only above 10.46 EUR, a swing zone just overhead, on a weekly close. Above that, the 50-day average at 10.82 EUR, a swing zone at 10.93 EUR and the round 11.0 EUR are the next barriers.

The breakout level is a daily close below 10.0 EUR, a round number and the first support. From there the math points to the 52-week low at 7.46 EUR, with 9.0 EUR as a pause on the way down. A stop at 10.42 EUR, the 200-day average plus a quarter of the 0.22 ATR, gives a reward-to-risk of 6 to 1, which clears the 3 to 1 threshold. The breakout would be wrong if the price recovers above that stop.

What would change the picture

A weekly close above 10.46 EUR would put the price back over the swing zone that marks where the weekly downtrend ends. The non-price fact most likely to do it is evidence that the export-led recovery at the theme's largest manufacturers is back on track, the point BYD's miss put in doubt, together with clarity on Hungary's battery policy.
